  • Get ready for the perfect introduction to Florence, especially if you love food!

Our Florence food tour begins at a delightful food store specialising in earthy truffles, where we’ll enjoy a glass of Prosecco with a truffle panini. An artisan chocolate tasting is next, followed by a visit to a local olive oil boutique. Owner Andrea will engage us with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil tasting and enlighten us about the virtues of unctuous extra virgin olive oil.

As we continue on this Florence tour, we learn about the history of Florence’s local and regional cuisines while exploring the city’s small alleyways and walking through charming local suburbs. Along the way, we’ll indulge further with tastings of ‘the best gelato in town’ and then partake in a glass of Chianti while nibbling on tasty focaccia bread. This Florence city tour shows you the sights as well as the bites to be had on the Florence food scene, making it the perfect combination of culture and cuisine.

We loved our tour, the food, and our guide. She was not only helpful and informative about Florence but she also provided information on Venice to us and that was where we were next headed. She did a fantastic job!

Ms. Kathleen D. from USA travelled on 10 Feb 2017:

Linda was truly fantastic – knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and passionate about the culture!

    Great Time, thanks

Mr. David C. from USA travelled on 23 Sep 2016:

Linda was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Very knowledgeable of the area, history, food and wine. Our tour was very small which made it even more enjoyable and she personally knew the shop owners that we visited. Great advice on where to go and eat. Urban Adventures has been good to us every time we take one of their tours, but this one was one of our favorites ever.

Mrs. Amanda W. from USA travelled on 30 Jul 2016:

We had such a great time on the food tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip. My girls really enjoyed the experience too!

Mr. James S. from Australia travelled on 16 Jul 2016:

Linda, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the foods and wines from the different regions, as well as in the history of Florence. In addition, she gave some great shopping tips. Linda treated us all more like friends rather than just customers. She was very accommodating to my 83-year-old mother who walked slowly. She took her time at every stop, not rushing us through the tour.

Mrs. Jennifer C. from Netherland travelled on 23 Jun 2016:

Excellent, unique tour. We had a great time! Thanks again 🙂

Mrs. Skye T. from Australia travelled on 22 Jun 2016:

This tour far exceeded my expectations. As a small group, although we knew everything was very well organised, we were made to feel like we were just taking a relaxed tour around the city and happening upon different spots to stop and taste – food, wines, oils, vinegars all amazing! Our tour guide was hilarious and extremely knowledgeable on all things Florence but also really interested in us as visitors. Had a ball, thank you

Mr. Jennifer A. from travelled on 28 May 2016:

The Best Tour of Florence! our guide Marco was a local and gave us an insight to the best of Florence it made our stay in the city sensational. We had a chance to taste and learn about locations that only locals frequent! The tastings were amazing loved the farm to table store of local salumi and cheese, the truffles & Prosecco and the best gelato in town!

Mrs. Dina H. from travelled on 06 Dec 2015:

We had an excellent food tour of Florence with Linda. She was knowledgeable, personable and fun and we learned a lot about Florence’s food and wine culture and its history. She also gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and markets to visits and districts to walk through that is making our stay here much more interesting. I would highly recommend this food tour and Linda as a guide.

Mrs. Tracy G. from travelled on 09 Nov 2015:

This is a great way to begin your vacation! A tour that will give you a local understanding about food and wine in Florence. Our guide Luca was informative and so much fun! thank you for one of the best tours we have taken during our vacation in Italy

Ms. Laurene V. from Canada travelled on 27 Sep 2015:

A short tour but it gave a lot of great insight in Florence and its food scene. The guide Linda was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It was a great two hours spent!

Mrs. Sonya E. from Australia travelled on 29 Oct 2014:

It was fantastic, Linda our tour guide was so nice and had an amazing knowledge of Florence and it’s many foodies places. So much food, no room for dinner and the gelato was the best I have eaten. Everyone should do it..

Mr. Angela S. from United Kingdom travelled on 13 Aug 2014:

Linda was a fantastic guide, so knowledgeable. We had a fantastic afternoon experiencing the best gelato, cheese, wine, truffle oil, balsamic, ham, chocolate etc. It did not feel like we were out and about for nearly 3 hours. We learned a lot about how to look closely at labels for good oil, wine and vinegar. Also learned a good tip about spotting ‘real’ gelato. It was good to visit some of the smaller authentic places. Loved the Grana Market. It was a real pleasure being in Linda’s company enjoying local produce. The best part of our holiday!

Terri C. from Australia travelled on 03 Aug 2014:

My boyfriend and I, joined by another couple, took the Florence Foodies Walk on 17th July 2014. Our guide was Natale, a Florentine local who took us for tastings of gelato (honestly, some of the best I’ve ever eaten – and believe me, I’ve eaten a lot!), wine, cheese, cured meat, balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

Natale exudes a quiet, but undeniably passionate love for Florence and its exceptional food and wine. We felt very privileged to join him on this tour and gain a glimpse into some wonderfully authentic, local vendors. We had but one day in Florence, and we’re very glad to have spent our afternoon discovering delicious foods with Natale rather than sweating it out in the heat with the huge crowds!

Natale also set us up for a fantastic evening with a really great local dinner recommendation after the tour. All in all, we were very happy to have dipped into Florence’s food culture with Urban Adventures!

Mr. Jonathan S. from United Kingdom travelled on 28 Jul 2014:

Linda was an excellent guide who was kind, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable

Mrs. Jocelyn W. from Australia travelled on 01 May 2014:

Our guide Linda was fabulous and she was originally from our home town so we had a lot of laughs. Linda was so knowledgable and easy to listen to. She took us to some wonderful local establishments, explaining the culture and stories behind each one. Loved, loved our tour. And now we are gelato experts we are very fussy we we get it from lol.

Mr. David W. from United Kingdom travelled on 30 Mar 2014:

This is the “must do” trip to take on your first day in Florence.

We had a fantastic introduction to the places to go and what to ask for.

Our guide Linda was extremely passionate about Florence, it’s food, cultures and the people of Florence. Thank you Linda for firing us up for the rest of our trip, we did manage to get back to quite a lot of the places we visited and my wife has now discovered her love of truffle!! And the cheese and chocolate combination gelati was awesome!

We will certainly make sure we do one of these trips where ever we go in the world.
